About Lorraine Wright
I have 10 years experience working therapeutically with individuals and groups around the effects of complex trauma,
domestic and sexual violence, mental health and grief and loss. My work draws
on trauma and recovery models, strength based approaches, CBT and mindfulness
skills and strategies. Within the therapeutic relationship I work holistically
with the mind, body and spirit assisting in the facilitation of personal growth
and change in a safe and supportive environment.
I started my career working with women and children escaping domestic violence,
worked with women, their partners and professionals after the death of a baby
through stillbirth or neonatal death. I have worked for child protection agencies
both as a child protection worker and as the co-ordinater of a national 24 hour
telephone support service. I have had extensive experience in working with survivors
of childhood sexual abuse and recent assault. I have worked in a range of o
rganisations specialising in child abuse/trauma with Department of Community
Services, Dympna House, NSW Rape Crisis, Child Abuse Prevention Service and
Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA).
I have facilitated many therapeutic groups and written a group work manual
for professionals working with adult survivors of childhood abuse. I
currently teach and train professional in counselling and working with
specific client groups. I have provided and continue to provide long term
counselling and short term therapy, telephone counselling, group work programs,
training and supervision in a range of services and more recently in private practice.
Over the years I have developed a working understanding of many therapeutic
approaches and learned even more from my client groups, professionals and students.
I am honoured every day with the gifts of bearing witness to those I have the
chance to work with and thank my clients for allowing me to walk with them as
they take steps in life. |
